If you look at no other photo in this blog post about a wedding at the Ritz-Carlton Lodge Reynolds Plantation, at least check out the last one. This is a perfectly timed shot that shows how amazing a lake front wedding in Georgia can be. Photography by David Christensen Photography
With a selection of famous golf communities like Reynolds Plantation, Great Waters, Cuscowilla, and Harbor Club, Lake Oconee is a popular vacation spot for families from Atlanta and around the Southeast. The area inspires relaxation and recreation so it’s not unusual that couples would take that inspiration into their wedding planning! Camille and Nick, a couple of golf enthusiasts came down to Lake Oconee and tied the knot at a private home in Great Waters. These photos, from Erin at Something Pretty Photography show what a little inspiration and imagination can produce.
From the photographer:
Camille and Nick’s wedding was great, and I always love working with Nancy from No Regrets Events–she is the absolute best! Their wedding was out at a house on Lake Oconee, and although it threatened rain, it held off all day and allowed for a gorgeous outdoor party. These two are golf nuts, so we had to take some shots on the golf course, and the one of Camille almost sinking a putt is priceless:) Here are some of my favorites.
Casa Banana II is a sweet rental house on Lake Oconee available for weddings, special events, family reunions and more. With 10 bedrooms and 10 baths, the house sleeps almost 40 people so it’s a perfect spot for a weekend getaway with your closest family and friends. The house is rented almost every weekend from March to October so book early! For more information on Casa Banana check here and here. The ceremony actually took place at a private home around the corner from Casa Banana and the reception was held at this beautiful rental home. Zoomworks Photography from Athens provided the images.
This couple met at a holiday party in London…..sounds so chic, right? It was and they are. This couple planned a very thoughtful wedding, bringing together customs from both the American South and England, as well as incorporating mementos of their extensive global travel. The location for the actual ceremony had very special meaning as well – the family farm where so many great memories had been created over the years. And of course they excited the ceremony in a vintage Volkswagen Bus!
A private club within the Reynolds Plantation community on Lake Oconee, The Lake Club, is an sweet spot for a wedding. Poised on a hill overlooking the lake, there’s a large grassy area for the ceremony and either a patio or interior ballroom for the reception. And you can do like the bride and take a boat ride to your own wedding! Courtney Goldman Photography from Athens came down to photograph Courtney and Brent’s big day. She did an amazing job capturing all the special moments that create a memorable wedding.
From the photographer:
Courtney and Brent were married at The Lake Club in Reynolds Plantation, overlooking Lake Oconee. It would be an understatement to say that this group was both fun and fabulous! After getting ready at Courtney’s father’s house, the girls (plus dad) took a boat across the lake to get to the ceremony and reception location! Everything about this wedding was amazing, but be sure to check out the bouquet and garter tosses at the end. They were epic!
Cuscowilla, a golf community on Lake Oconee, has a stunning spot for your ceremony on a point overlooking the water. You can have your ceremony right at the water’s edge and move back to the Waterside restaurant and pool area for your reception. Josh and Michelle chose Cuscowilla for their small, winter wedding and Eric Little, their photographer, captured these beautiful images.
From the photographer:
What a way to begin the New Year. My favorite wedding venue, Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee, and Josh and Michelle. A small family affair, but it offered me even more time to spend with the bride and groom for their wedding photography. I have shot at Cuscowilla on so many occasions, I know every great location to shoot there, but I was able to create some new looks with Josh and Michelle. Something different. No matter how long you are in the wedding photography business, new clients become new friends, which help you become more creative. I hope you enjoy a few of their images.
Kim Lindsay from Alea Moore Photography came to the Ritz at Lake Oconee to photograph this beautiful late-year wedding and did an amazing job capturing the unique details and the fun-loving couple. Mazal Tov!
From the Photographer:
I hope all of you are LOVING all the holiday joy this week!! Did you realize you only have a few days to go!!! I can’t believe Christmas has totally snuck up on me so my goal this week is to completely enjoy my life, my family and friends,.. maybe a little last minute shopping and definitely lots of sweet treats. I’m going to love every minute of it too :)
To share some joy with all of you today, I’m so happy to share Amy and Michael’s wedding day with everyone. We got to take a little day trip to Lake Oconee for their gorgeous outdoor wedding by the lake. Lots of wonderful traditions and lots of love filled the day along with TONS of awesome details including caramel apples! Yumo!! But my favorite part of the evening was the Hora dance. We are always looking for that sweet first dance followed by hugs and kisses but Amy and Michael opened up their reception but running in and immediately were followed by every single guest onto the dance floor. What an awesome tradition and when Amy and Michael we lifted into the air on their chairs I thought I was going to die of laughter!! It was so cool it brought tears to my eyes and I’ll never forget the look on Amy’s face!! Priceless :)
Amy and Michael, We loved seeing all your beautiful traditions and sharing your wedding day with you both! It was an amazing day and we can’t thank you enough for choosing us to capture every moment!! Thank you so much and we are super excited to share your photos!!
More information on Sandy Creek Barn Weddings
Welcome to one of the most exclusive wedding venues on Lake Oconee – Sandy Creek Barn. Also known as Mercer Reynold’s Retreat, this barn is an absolutely stunning place for a wedding. The barn is booked through the Chairman’s office at Reynolds Plantation. Erin from Something Pretty Fine Art Photography captured the venue and the couple perfectly.
From the Photographer:
If this wasn’t one of the greatest wedding–I am not sure what is. Courtney is from NY and has the best taste ever, and she got married in Lake Oconee at Reynolds plantation and fused the two beautifully. New England meets the South–from the pink pants on the men to the steer horns on the table. This was just so much fun too shoot–I just loved the people and the vibe. This is kind of a long post, because there were too many good shots to choose!
